What's Included
Every DPF we clean goes through the Clean Diesel Specialists 8-step process. Our process is Cummins-approved because we follow the Clean Diesel Specialists 8-step procedure on Cummins-approved aqueous cleaning equipment from EnviroMotive.
The steps:
- Initial inspection: We check the filter for external damage, contamination and wear.
- Record and document: We record the filter's airflow, weight and condition as a baseline.
- Blast cleaning: Compressed air knocks loose the larger soot and ash particles.
- Aqueous cleaning: A high-pressure water flush reaches deep into the filter to remove fine particles that air alone can miss.
- Drying: All moisture is removed before heat treatment.
- Thermal regeneration: The filter is heat-treated at controlled temperatures to burn off any remaining fine particulates.
- Cooling and final check: After cooling, we run a final airflow test and structural check.
- Package and document: The filter is sealed, labeled and returned with documentation of the cleaning results.
Our prices cover cleaning only. We don't remove or install filters, so plan on having your own mechanic or repair shop handle removal and reinstallation.

What Changes Your Total
Adding the DOC
The diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) sits ahead of the DPF and often comes off at the same time. Cleaning it with your DPF adds just $80, compared with $300 for a DOC on its own. A DPF and DOC cleaned together cost $380 before any discount.

The Condition of the Filter
Cleaning restores a filter that's loaded with soot and ash. It can't repair one that's cracked, melted or soaked with oil or coolant. If our inspection finds damage, we'll contact you before going further, so you can decide on next steps.
Parts for Reinstallation
Gaskets and clamps aren't included with cleaning. Use new ones when the filter goes back on. We carry DPF gaskets, clamps and sensors.
Cleaning vs. Replacement Cost
A new replacement DPF typically costs several times as much as a cleaning. The aftermarket diesel particulate filters in our catalog run from about $850 to $3,500, depending on the application, and include free clamps and gaskets.
